Dine, Learn & MOVE

The Dine, Learn & Move program is a FREE 11-month program presented by a partnership between M-NCPPC Department of Parks and Recreation Prince George’s County, Prince George’s County Health Department and Suburban Hospital. The program aims to promote healthy eating, active living and reinforce health behaviors in order to reduce the prevalence of various chronic diseases amongst county residents.

Program Overview

Dine, Learn & Move sessions are two hours long. During the first segment participants are encouraged to get up and move through an instructor lead exercise routine. Next, participants relax and learn about healthy eating from a Registered Dietician. Lastly, the program wraps up with a step by step healthy cooking demonstration that includes a free sample and take home recipe. Learn simple, everyday tips for healthy meal choices with Dine, Learn & Move at Suitland Community Center.


The Dine, Learn & Move program aims to promote healthy lifestyle habits by exposing county residents to physical activity, health, and nutrition education. The goal of the program is to reduce the incidence and prevalence of cardiovascular disease and CVD-related conditions (i.e. obesity) affecting Prince George’s County residents. According to Prince George’s County Health Department, “The prevalence of obesity has been increasing among adults and children in Maryland.  Poor eating habits and physical inactivity contribute to overweight and obesity as well as many chronic diseases, including heart disease, some cancers, diabetes, and arthritis. Dine, Learn & Move participants have the opportunity to reduce incidence of these chronic ailments as they:

  • Learn from step-by-step live healthy cooking demonstrations with a chef
  • Sample FREE freshly prepared healthy foods and take home new healthy recipes
  • Discuss the latest trends in nutrition with a Registered Dietician
  • Exercise with fitness-instructor lead routines

Join us for National Nutrition Month as we discuss how to make healthier food choices that support an active body as well as an active mind. Learn the basics of eating well to support the exercise program of your choice.

Tooth Smart Snacks
Did you know that oral health is an indic
ator for one’s overall health? During this session, learn more about the link between chronic disease and the risks of poor oral health, such as tooth loss and gum disease. By incorporating dental hygiene with a healthy diet and physical activity you can discover a more beautiful smile!

Low Pressure; High Fitness
May is National Physical Fitness & Sports Month! It’s also National Blood Pressure Awareness month. So let’s bring the two together and explore how we can make smart fitness and food choices to keep our blood pressure low and our spirits high with physical activity.


This is a FREE program. No registration is required. All ages are welcome.  Children under 13 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
